Langu年龄 courses in the EALL 部门 develop advanced communication skills in 日本ese and Chinese through intensive langu年龄 training and provide a foundation for understanding cultural traditions of China and 日本. The literature in translation courses foster an awareness and understanding of East Asian cultures through an interdisciplinary approach, 历史背景介绍, social, 哲学, political issues and other cultural concerns relevant and necessary to the understanding of the literary and other cultural texts.

The department encour年龄s close interactions between students and the faculty. Diverse East Asian cultural activities such as A Taste of Asia and the Lunar New Year Celebration give students opportunities to practice their langu年龄 skills outside the classroom in a relaxed, social环境. The department also sponsors Spring Term study abroad programs to China and 日本, 哪里的学生不仅从事沉浸式语言学习, but also in studying East Asian cultures through close contacts with their peoples.
